What is the Notre Dame Cathedral known for?

Clothing

     most people were poor.  they only had 1-2 pairs of clothes.  they wore any clothes over the week.  even though they were poor they still had nice clothes.  most of the clothes were still riped and dirty.  the middle class had 3-4 pairs of clothes.

     the rich had 6-7 pairs ofof cloths and they were very nice.  they saved the nicest cloths for the last day for church.  normally they saved the best clothes for the church day but some people used the best clothes befor the end of the week.

This sure took a long time to build.

        The cathedral alone took 180 years to build.  Thats not even counting the restless years of repair and rebuild which makes it 190 years and still counting.  The cathedral had only 300 people workingon it.  The stained glass windos are 665 yeraS OLD.

         Now the cathedral is 666 years old.  Every year something breaks and every year something new is rebuilt.  the place is a real hot spot for tourisum.

How many people fit in the cathedral?

         The max amount of people that can fit in the cathedral is 9000 people.  The normal amount is 6500-7500.  More than 3500 people can fit in the main church hall.  The top floor is able to hold 2000 people, but the top floor usually not for people to sit when there is worship.  There is also an area where the people can go but you cant see any of the worship.

          Another thing that is really cool that i found is that the choir is consisted of only men and women.  The max number of people is 100 people out of 7000 people in the church.  The number is split in half, 50 women and 50 men.  The entire church sang along but very quietly.

         The one thing you need to know is the man who ran the cathedral is the bishop.  Even though he ran the cathedral, he considered the church to be the leaders.  The bishop is the man who also lead any church activity.  They also ran the funerals for any one who died.  Normally when a bishop died the entire town got together and sang prayers and gave offerings to the bishops family.

         The next bishop in line was the next church leader.  The next bishop had to earn the churches respect before he could lead the church events.  They also had to wear a special hat and robe for the prayers.  One of the center peices of church was the offerings.  The most important thing about the offerings is the chalice.  It holds all the offerings fron the church.
